Malty Eldridge was the son of Napoleon Bradford
Long and Sarah Elizabeth 'Bohannon.' He was
their 5th child. The couple was living in Boone
County Arkansas when he was born. He had 8 brothers, and 3 sisters. His sibblings were:
Henry Maples, Eura Euphrates, George Elmer, Alvarado, Napoleon Elna, Arthur Carlisle, Owen
Goldman, Ina Lydia, Ozia Iba, Bonnie Bradford, and Mellie Marcella. (Ozia died young, she was 15 at the time of her death) Malty was born between Alvarado 'Alva Ray' and Napoleon Elna.

Malty was the grandson of Maples Long and Mahala Atchley
Long, also Henry Bohannon and Amanda Garrett Bohannon.
Great Grandson of Rev. George W. Long 1 and Nancy
'Elizabeth' Maples Long.

Malty was a Baptist by faith. At the time of his death,
he was survived by one son, Earl Long, Chico Calif; one sister, Mrs. 'Ina' Charles Zigler of Prague; five brothers, George Long, Oklahoma City; Bonnie Long and Napoleon E. Long, both of Bristow; Eura Long, Prague, and Owen Long, Little Rock, Arkansas. He also had four grandchildren at the time of his death.
At one time, Malty worked for the Railroad. Later years, he worked as a cross guard for the Oklahoma City Schools.
He was first married to Rosa 'Dalton.' They were married
on June 12, 1906, at Tecumseh, Indian Territory. They were the parents of 3 children: Lester Bernice, Stella Maree, and Earl. Lester died at the age of 1, Stella died at the
age of 17. This marriage ended in divorce.

Later, Malty re-married. He married Mrs. Myrtle 'Capps' Gathings on Sept. 12, 1908 in Cleburne, Texas. Malty and Myrtle had three children: Malty Eldridge Jr., Myrtle, and Henry Lee. Malty Jr., died at the age of 5 in Texas. Myrtle was born and died the same day. Henry was 16 at the time of his death. He is buried in the same cemetery as his brother, Malty Jr. and Myrtle. They all are buried in the Llano Cemetery, in Amarille. Malty Jr. and the baby sister share a tombstone picture.

Malty received his W.W.1 draft card
and at this time he and Myrtle were living
in Colorado.
Their address was 620 E. B. Avenue, Pueblo,
Pueblo County, Colorado.
Sometime before the 1920 census, the couple
had moved back to Texas. They were living in
Amarillo, Potter Co., Texas. At this time,
Malty is listed as a car repairer.
The 1930 census shows them still in
Amarillo, owing their home and he is listed
as a carpenter, working in the Tin
Construction.
Myrtle is working as a Laundress in a
Steam Laundry. At this time, Malty is 45 and
Myrtle is 34. They have one son, Henry, age 6.
Also listed in the household is Alice F.
Gathings, age 14; Katherine Gathings, age 12.
The two girls were Myrtle's daughters by a
previous marriage. Both Malty and Myrtle had
been married once before.

Malty E. Long moved to Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma some time after 1942. His
W.W.11 draft card he received in 1942,
he was still living in Amarillo, Texas.

NOTE: New Record - May, 2017
On the 15th of Dec. 1946 Malty E. Long
married for the 3rd time. He was
married to Mrs. Flora Morgan. Malty
was age 61 at this time and Flora was
age 57. He was living at 204 W.
Washington Street in Oklahoma City
and she was living at 2228 N.W. 29th
Street in Oklahoma City. They were
married by a Minister of the Gospel,
W.C. Mathis in the Linwood Methodist
Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
They had two witness' at the church.
One was Alfred Wm. Joyce, of Oklahoma
City and one of his older brothers,
George Elmer Long.

NOTE: More research will continue for
the information about this 3rd marriage,
and posted when possible. Also research will continue to learn when and where his third wife, Flora died and is buried.

I personally have a handwritten letter
by Malty to his first cousin, my great
Aunt Mary Catherine 'Long' Fowler. It
was found in a treasure box of my great
grandfather, Rev. Robert H. Long, things.
He was Mary's father. Malty's my 3rd
cousin.
