Napoleon Bradford Long and Sarah
Elizabeth 'Bohannon.' At the time
of his death, Owen was 86 years old.
He had 9 brothers and 3 sisters.
It's believed at one time,
he had married, more research
is being done.
Owen was the grandson of Maples Long and
Mahala 'Atchley' Long and Henry Bohannon and Amanda 'Garrett' Bohannon.
Owen Goldman Long joined the United States
Navy at an early age, serving four years.
He became very ill during his service and
was a patient at the Veterans Center in
Sawtell, California at one time. His service
document list his brother, Bonnie B. Long
as his nearest relative. At that time Bonnie
is listed as living in Craig Co., Oklahoma.
Owen's service record list him at the age of
32, being 5'7", with fair complexion, brown
eyes, brown hair and his religion was Prot.
His occupation was a clerk and he was living
in Phoenix, Ariz., at the time before his
discharged. He enlisted in Dallas, Texas.
On his Navy discharged papers, it list him
as being a widower.
It appears Owen signed his name as
Owen Golden Long. Also he seems to have
served in the Army at one time and during
the Civil War? (further research will be
done on this newfound information.)
More will be added when possible.
My thanks to Stan for taking the picture of
Owen's tombstone in 2009. I had requested
the picture at that time. Also thanks for the
transfer from findagrave to connect Owen with
the family.
