David A. "Pius" McCauley, 64, died Saturday at Humana Hospital-Suburban. He was a native of Raywick, a former employee of the old Falls City Brewing Co., and a World War II Army-Air Corps veteran. Survivors: his wife, the former Rena B. Singleton; two daughters, Mary D. McCauley of Homewood, IL., and Libby A. McCauley; a son, Phillip M. McCauley of Chapel Hill, NC.; a sister, C. Louise McCauley of Chicago Park, Calif.; and six brothers, Thomas B. McCauley of Toulon, IL., Donald G. McCauley of Wyoming, IL., J. Elmer McCauley and Robert L. McCauley Sr., both of Lebanon, and F. Henry and A. Garland McCauley. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday, St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3521 Goldsmith Lane, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation at Ratterman's-Bardstown Road, 3800 Bardstown Road, from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

David's birth name was Pius Aloysius. He had it legally changed in Louisville, Jefferson Co., KY to David Alan when he was 21 years old. Family members continued to refer to him as Pius or "Lote" (nickname for Aloysius) throughout his life.
Cause of death was cardiac arrest at his residence.
In addition to working at Falls City Brewing Company, he also worked for a few years at General Electric.
