JOSEPH McCAULEY DIES HERE AT 84
Joseph Benedict McCauley, 84, died at 12:15 a.m. Saturday, October 15, at Marian Manor. He had been in ill health for about a year. Mr. McCauley was a retired farmer, and auctioneer. He also was a former deputy sheriff of Marion County, and a Kentucky Colonel. He was a member of the Holy Name Society. Born April 2, 1882 at Raywick, he was the son of the late Joseph F. and Julia Wimsatt McCauley. He was married to Mary Lyda Mattingly McCauley, who died about three years ago. He is survived by 10 sons, Cyril McCauley, Loretto; Elmer, Lebanon; William J., Robert L., Henry F., David A., Earl and A. Garland McCauley, Louisville; and Thomas B. and Don G. McCauley, Wyoming, IL.; a daughter, Miss Louise McCauley, Loretto; a sister, Mrs. Len Cecil, Raywick and 25 grandchildren. The body was at Mattingly Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Church, Raywick, with the Rev. William A. Spalding as celebrant, Rev. Borgia McCauley, deacon, and Rev. Samuel Lee, subdeacon. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were six of his sons, Thomas, Earl, William, Robert, David and Garland McCauley.
