J. Elmer died at the Nodaway Mental Health Int. where he lived the last two plus years. He had been a resident of Luther vicinity for about 30 years. He spent his early years in Valley Junction.
Married 3 Sep 1896 to Mary "Mae" Cecelia Brehany, at Stuart. Adair Co. Iowa. To this union 14 children were born. They lived on a farm in Boone County until about until about 30 years ago when they moved to Luther. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary and one son, George, who died in infancy. Also His parents, and 5 five brothers and one sister.
He leaves to mourn his passing 13 children: Clarence & Edward of California; Mrs. Ruth Stoelk & Mrs. Lena Stout of Davenport; Mrs. Olive (John) Vaughn, Mrs. Catherine Miller and Virgil of Des Moines; Elmer of Belmond; John, Thomas, Joseph, Mrs. Eva (Charles F.) Smith and Mrs. Mary (Paul) Smalley of Boone: 41 granchildren and 42 great grandchildren.
