Daughter of Patrick and Mary Ellen (Barrett) Breheny died at her home in Luther, Iowa. She spent her childhood on a farm near Casey. In 1895 she united in marriage to John Elmer Smith at Stuart. To this union 14 Children were born:

She lived on a farm near Boone until 18 years ago when they moved to Luther.
She was preceded in death by a son, George; her parents; on brother, Thomas, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Ketchum.

She leaves to mourn her death her husband; and 13 Children: Clarence, & Edward of Vacaville, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Miller & Mrs. Lena Stout of Davenport. Mrs. (John) Vaughn & Mrs. Catherine (Floyd) Miller of Des Moines; Elmer of Belmond; John, Thomas, Virgil, Joseph, Mrs. Eva (Charles F) Smith and Mrs. Mary (Paul) Smalley of Boone. 37 g-children, 11 gr-g-children; Two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Miller of Casey, and Mrs. Margaret Lydon of Des Moines; six brothers, Dominic & John of Greenfield; Frances, James & Patrick of Casey and William of Des Moines, as well as many other relatives & friends.

She was a kind wife and loving mother. Her personality rediated joy & sunshine wherever she went.
Services were held at Schroeder Funeral, Boone & at Christian Church of Luther with Rev. Baker of Paton, Iowa in charge.
