John Sidney Earp, Sr., age 75, of Route 1, Houlka, died Tuesday, March 17 at his home. Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 18 at Memorial Funeral Home, with Rev. Miller Watkins and Rev. Carl Morris officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.

Mr. Earp was a lifelong resident of Chickasaw County. He was the son of the late Benjamin F Earp and the late Mattie Senora Earp.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Clara Ward Earp of Houlka; four daughters, Mrs. Rose Margart Burgess of Lucedale, Mrs. Martha Mooneyham of Houston, Mrs. Beatrice Moss of Houlka, Mrs. Barbara Ann Bean of Yazoo City; four sons, Howard Earp and Jimmy Earp, both of Houlka, Thomas Earp of Greenwood, and John S Earp, Jr., of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Lois Vaughn of Woodland, Mrs. Elizabeth Hollingsworth of Houston, Mrs. Alice Hill of Memphis, Tennessee and Mrs. Margaret Bullard of Columbus. Seventeen grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive.

Pallbearers were grandsons, Tommy Earp, Jamie Earp, Rickey Earp, Eddie Burgess, Rickey Jones and Roby Moss.

Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
