Mrs. Mattie Earp, 74, Buried at Bethel
Services for Mrs. Mattie Senora Earp, 74, resident of the Bethel community near Woodland, who died at 8:15 Friday night, May 29, at the Vardaman Hospital, were conducted at 2 pm, Sunday from the Houston Funeral Home.
The Rev. J E Rogers and the Rev. Fred Jolly officiated. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were: Bill Shelton, Roy Bullard, Jimmy Dale Whitt, Jeff Brooks, Howard Earp, and Billy Burgess.
Mrs. Earp was born March 8, 1885, and has spent all of her life in Chickasaw county. She was the daughter of the late John Lanham and Nancy Saunders Lanham. She was a member of the Prospect Methodist Church.
Besides her husband, Ben F Earp, she leaves a son, J S Earp of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Gus Vaughn of Woodland, Mrs. M L Hollingsworth of Houston, Mrs. Leslie Hill of Memphis, and Mrs. Henry Bullard of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, Bill Lanham of Pascagoula; two sisters, Mrs. Neulan Stafford of Cedar Bluff, Miss., and Mrs. Peney Brand of Calhoun City. Twenty-one grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
