HOUSTON - John "Hick" Sidney Earp Jr. 68, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at his residence. He was born March 25, 1944, in Woodland to John Sidney Earp, Sr. and Clara Ward Earp. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Chapter 42 DAV, American Legion and VFW. He also was a member of Victory Baptist Church.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Eddie Bean and Bro. Randy Rinehart officiating. Burial will follow in Bethal Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rose Schwalenburg Earp of Houston; one daughter, Bonnie (Chris) Gill of Houston; one son, Paul D. Earp of Houston; two grandchildren, Jonathan Gill and Abbie Claire Gill, both of Houston; three sisters, Rose M. (Bill) Burgess of Lucedale, Martha "Boots" (Otis) Mooneyham and Ann (Rev. Eddie) Bean of Waynesboro; two brothers, Thomas (Sharon) Earp of Greenwood; Jimmy (Lisa) Earp of Wren; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Earp of Houlka; and a special aunt, Alice Hill of Memphis.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Beatrice Moss; a brother, Howard Earp; a nephew, John Michael Earp; and a great-niece, Sydney Earp.
