Philip N. Abler, 80, a former rural mail carrier in St. Cloud for many years, died at his home in St. Cloud at noon today. Funeral arrangements are being made by Lisowe Funeral home in St. Cloud.

Philip Abler Dies At Home In St. Cloud. Rural Mail Carrier 35 Years; Services To Be At Church. Philip N. Abler, 80, died Saturday at his home in St. Cloud.

He was born Jan. 10, 1884, in Mt. Calvary, the son of Matthew and Catherine Stephany Abler. For 35 years he was a rural carrier in the St. Cloud area retiring in 1949.

Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m Tuesday at the Lisowe Fuenral home, St. Cloud, and at 10 a.m. at St. Cloud Catholic church, the Rev. Roman Stoffel officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. The body is in state at the funeral home.

Mr. Abler married Clara Mihm of Calvary on Oct. 4, 1910, in St. Cloud. She died in 1949. He is survived by three sons, Sylvester of St. Cloud, Stanley, St. Nazianz, and Gordon, Plymouth; six daughters, Mrs. Bernard Calvey, city, Mrs. Val Baus and Mrs. Joseph Eiring, both of Kiel, and Mrs. John Baus, Mrs. Cyril Ausloos, and Mrs. Frank Ditter, all of St. Cloud; and two sisters, Mrs. Germaine Walber and Mrs. Anthony Fox, both of the city. Also surviving are six brothers, the Rev. Cyprian Abler, Crown Point, Ind., Nicholas, Mt. Calvary, Leo and Herman, Milwaukee, Ben, Wisconsin Rapids, and Anthony, Rudolph; 51 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and his wife. Mr. Abler was a member of the Holy Name society of St. Cloud church.

Funeral services for Philip Abler, who died Saturday, were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Lisowe Funeral home in St. Cloud and 10 a.m. in St. Cloud church. Burial was in St. Cloud cemetery. A solemn requiem mass was celebrated by the Rev. Roman Stoffel with Capuchin priests acting as deacon and subdeacon. The Rev. Cyprian Abler, O.F.M. Cap., was seated in the sanctuary. Pallbearers were Donald, Richard, Vernon, and William Baus and Thomas and Joseph Calvey. The Holy Name society attended in a group.

Funeral services were held at St. Cloud Catholic Church Tuesday for Philip N. Abler, 80, St. Cloud, who died Saturday at his home. In Monday's edition of The Press, the name of his second wife was omitted unintentionally. He was married to Gertrude Goeser of St. Cloud in August, 1956. She died June 5, 1958. Mr. Abler had been married to the former Clara Mihm from Oct. 4, 1910 until her death Aug. 13, 1949.
