Samuel Kennington 63, a former resident of Afton died monday in Ogden and was buried in the Afton cemetery last Wednesday.
Mr Kennington died at the hom of his daughter, Mrs. J.T.(Ted) Leinenger, in Ogden after a long illness. He was operated on about a year ago for a cancer, and has not been well since.
He was born at Liberty Idaho. January 10, 1880 and he came with his parents to Afton in 1886, being among the first settlers of the valley. He lived most of his life in Afton and Idaho, but went to Ogden about 8 years ago.
He married Rachel Sophia Clements in 1898 and she died many years ago. He later married Elizabeth Jane Clements who lives in Logan, in 1921.
He was working at Hill Field previous to his illness
Surviving are his widow, three sons and three daughters: Samuel L. Kennington, Thornton, Idaho; William Albert Kennington, Inglewood Cal.; George H. Kennington, Bend Oregon, Mrs Cyrena Leinenger, Ogden, Mrs Irene Carver, McCammon Idaho and Mrs eva L. Brangham Pocatello Idaho; three brothers, Joseph H. Kennington Auburn, Ira Kennington, Preston Ida. and John Kennington Washington state; several half brothers and 16 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Ogden at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday under the direction of Bp. Aldon C. Sorensor of the second ward in Ogden.
