Valley Pioneer Dies Thursday
Mrs Adolph Jensen, 74, passed away at her home Thursday morning about 1:30 a.m. Mrs Jensen has been ill for several years, and has been practically bedfast since last January. Mrs Jensen has lived most of her life in Star Valley, having com here with her parents in the early eighties. All of her children were in attendance at the home at the time of her passing.
Funeral services will be held in the Stake House on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. under the direction of the North Ward Bishopric.
We will publish a brief sketch of her life in the next issue of the Independent.
Funeral Services Held for Mrs A. S. Jensen
On August 30, 1951 another fine wife and mother passed to the great beyond.
Ida Eliza Kennington Jensen was born at Liberty, Idaho, January 6, 1877, a daughter of William Henry and Annie Seward Kennington.
She came to Star Valley with her folks in October 1886. she received her schooling here and in 1898 she was married to Adolph Jensen. About three years after this couple were married, Adolph went on a 2 1/2 year mission to Sweden. they are the parents of five children: Adolph William (deceased) Lester Jensen, of Salt Lake City; Mrs Sam Roos Sandpoint, Idaho; Lowell (Johnnie) Jensen of Afton and Mrs Jack Osmond of Thayne.
Mrs Jensen devoted her life to her home and family, and still had time to serve in her church. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Primary teacher, a Relief society Block teacher and in the North Ward Relief Society Presidency for several years. For years she worked with the local doctors in caring for the sick, especially during the flu epidemic in 1919.
The last ten years of her life were spent quietly at home.
Funeral services were held September 1, 1951 in the North ward chapel under the direction of Bishop Michael Austin.
Prayer in the home was by A. R. Kennington.
Processional music--Margaret Winters.
The Canto Chorus sang "Whis Far Away Land".
Opening prayer was by A. Dixon Burton.
The speakers were Bishop F.R. Gardner and President E. Francis Winters.
Remarks were given by Bishop Austin.
Mrs Verenda walker and son, Gary Gardner, sang "In the Garden" accompanied on the piano by Nada Joy Gardner.
The Canto Chorus sang "Whispering Hope"
Closing prayer was by LaVere Johns.
The grave was dedicated by Bishop R. R, Dana.
The pallbearers were nephews, L.D. Forrest, Glen and Elbert Kennington, Lorenzo Jensen and Alonzo Matthews.
The flowers were carried by her family, she leaves four brothers, Henry, Alonzo, Albert and Ira Kennington and a multitude of friends.
The following folks from out of the valley in attendance at the funeral were:

Mr and Mrs Harvey Matthews and daughter Gayle, Alonzo Matthews and daughters Annie and Lucille, Mr and Mrs James Hymas of Liberty, Idaho; Mrs Warren Staley of Jackson, Wyo. and Mr Ira Kennington of Preston, Idaho.
