Obituary - George Howard Kennington Sr., 72, of Smithfield, Utah, died Wednesday, April 25, 1984 at Veterans Hospital in Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Monday, April 30 at 12 noon at the Smithfield Fourth ward Chapel with Bp. George A. Marchant conducting. Burial was in the Smithfield Cemetery.
He was born August 17, 1913 at Etna, to Samuel and Rachel Sophia Clements Kennington. He married Jessie Artilla Miller on September 2, 1936 at Logan. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on March 17, 1950.
He worked as a service man for International Harvester, for Daines Dairy as a mechanic, and was employed at Wurlitzer Piano where he retired due to health problems.
He was a veteran, serving in the army in WWII and was a life-member of the Disabled Veterans.
He was active in the LDS Church, had served as secretary of the Elders Quorum, and at the time of his death was a High Priest in the Smithfield Fourth Ward. He enjoyed temple work and also did voluntary RSVP work.
Surviving is his wife of Smithfield, son George Howard Kennington Jr., of Smithfield, three grandchildren and two great grandchildren. One brother William Albert Kennington of Aurora Colo., and a sister Evva Brangham of Fort Hall, Idaho.
