He and Emaline Humpherys were married May 1915 and they became the parents of six children; Emerson, Bernell, Paul (deceased) Mark, Genoa and Cumorah.
Emaline died in 1949.
Ira married Vilate Fellows in 1952 and she died in 1974.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 21 in his home town of Preston, Idaho. Interment was in the Preston Cemetery.
