BURNS, Anna Elizabeth - March 31, 1927 - Mrs. C.G. Burns, one of Porter Township's finest and most highly respected Christian ladies, passed away at her home on Saturday, March 19, 1927, following only a few days sickness, aged 55 years 2 months and 17 days. Anna Elizabeth Dixon was the daughter of the late James A. & Lavina Dixon, of Piney Township, and was born Jan. 12, 1872 in that township. She married C.G. Burns on January 19, 1893, and some time thereafter they established their home in Porter Township where Mr. Burns still survives. To their union were born eight children, three of whom preceded their mother in death, the survivors being, Gladys Burns Wiant, Porter Twp; Bank Burns, Billing, Montana; Geraldine Burns Martz, New Bethlehem, and Eugene and Henry at home. Five brothers and four sisters also survive as follow; W.O. Dixon, Pittsburgh; Mrs. J.E. Arner, Mrs. E.C. Faloon and Mrs. F.L. Crooks of Clarion. One sister preceded her to the grave.
Mrs. Burns was a devout Christian woman and early life united with Mount Zion Lutheran Church. Her whole life was a benediction to her family and all her knew her. The funeral services was held at her late home Wednesday, March 23, at 10:30 a.m., being conducted by Rev. McCoy of Sligo. The interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery at Churchville.
