Geraldine A. Burns Martz, 93, of Mayport RD 2 (Ringgold), Ringgold Township,
Jefferson County, died at 9:45 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2001. Born May 6,
1907, in Porter Township, Clarion County, she was a daughter of Gilbert E.
Burns and Anna Elizabeth Dixon Burns. Mrs. Martz was a homemaker. She was a
member of St. James Lutheran Church in Ringgold, and she was very active in
the church in her early years. She was married Oct. 8, 1923, to Frank W.
Martz, who preceded her in death Feb. 27, 1976.
Mrs. Martz was the
last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary E. Martz and Lois Snyder; a
sister, Gladys Wiant; and three brothers, Robert Burns, Clarence Burns and
Henry Burns. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Charles
D. Alcorn Funeral Home in Hawthorn. Funeral services will be held at 10:30
a.m. Monday in the funeral home with the Rev. Arlene Schweitzer, pastor of
St. James Lutheran Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the family
plot in St. James Cemetery, Ringgold, Ringgold Township, Jefferson County.
