BURNS, CLARENCE GILBERT -- Clarence Gilbert BURNS died Wednesday, December 15, 1948, in the Brookville hospital. He was born November 11, 1870, and was 78 years old at the time of his death. His parents were Steven and Syvilla BURNS. Mr. BURNS was an elder in the Licking Presbyterian church, and up to the time of his last illness had been teacher of the Men's Bible Class of the Oak Grove Presbyterian church. He served a term as Commissioner of Clarion County, from 1932 to 1936. He was one of the best known and most highly respected men of Clarion County. He was always active until his last brief illness. Mr. BURNS was married to Anna Elizabeth DIXON who died 21 years ago. He is survived by three sons and two daughters: Mrs. A.B. WYANT, Porter township; Banks BURNS, Sligo, R.D.; Eugene BURNS, Monroe township; Mrs. Frank Martz, Ringgold, and Prof. Henry BURNS, Porter township. There are 23 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Mr. BURNS is also survived by four brothers and one sister: John BURNS, Sligo; Arthur BURNS, Sligo, R.D.; Charles BURNS, Oil City; Ira BURNS, Knox, and Mrs. Cora HENRY, Sligo. Three sons preceded their father in death. A funeral service for Mr. BURNS was held at 3 p.m., Saturday, December 18, in the Licking Presbyterian Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Elder D. CRAWFORD, D.D., assisted by the Rev. J. V. MOUNTAIN. Interment was made in the Licking Cemetery. The Leader-Vindicator
