Mrs. Betty Smith was born in Bolton, England, August 22, 1848, and died at her home in Jubilee Township, Peoria County, Ill., Feb. 13, 1901, aged 52 years, 5 months, and 22 days. She was united in marriage to Mr. George Smith March 11, 1867. To this union were born fourteen children. Four of them preceded their mother to the other world. The others are living and were present at the funeral. The death of Mrs. Smith was very unexpected. She was in usual health a few days before she died. Her death is a serious loss to both husband and children. Wife and mother gone brings darkness and sorrow to the home. In this sad bereavement they have the deepest sympathy of friends and neighbors. The funeral was conducted from the home on Friday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m., the sermon being preached by Rev. R. Pacey. The music was furnished by a male quartette from Brimfield. The remains were interred in the Brimfield Cemetery.
