Alva Smith, known to many friends by the name of “Buck” Smith, was accidentally killed while working in the woods on the Harry Ramshaw place near Oak Hill Tuesday morning, by a tree that he was chopping down falling on him. For many years Mr. Smith has lived alone in Oak Hill where he operated a harness and shoe repair shop, and did odd jobs around the village. He was a son of the late George Smith and was about 60 years of age. He leaves a number of brothers and sisters. The body was brought to the undertaking rooms of H.R. Johnson & Son in Brimfield where an inquest was held yesterday morning by Coroner Elliott, the facts of his death being as above stated.
The funeral service will be held this afternoon at the M.E. church in Brimfield at two o’clock.
