John Farrell was born on 31 Jul 1875 in Gilmer County, West Virginia, although his exact birth location is unknown. His parents were Peter Farrell and Anna Cuff, although their spelling is somewhat inconsistent among sources throughout the years which I attribute to the difficulty in pronouncing and spelling their names. It appears he may have had 8 siblings; Margaret A (m. Craft), Mary C (m. Fitzpatrick), Elizabeth Beatrice (m. Rush), Thomas Vincent, Patrick Francis, Anna Gertrude (m. McCudden), Ella Madalene (m. Bohan) and Peter Jr.
