Ann Cuff may have been born around Feb 1844 in Roscommon County, Ireland. However, there are several inconsistencies with regards to her actual birth date. Official records are scant and all dates were obtained from Census records, gravestones and approximate years based on marriage records. A name of Mary has also been used in census records with her father and a potential baptism record. One potential report from Ireland Births and Baptisms lists a baptism date of 7 Feb 1844 as well as naming her parents which are consistent with marriage, census and family records. According to her marriage records, her parents were Thomas and Bridget Cuff. Her mother’s maiden name may be Dooly as described in her baptism record and her parent’s marriage record. Her siblings are currently unknown at this time.

She immigrated to the U.S sometime between 1844 and 1860, however exact dates cannot be confirmed at this time. In her early years, she probably grew up in Roscommon County in Ireland. It is unknown where she lived after arriving in the U.S. According to the 1860 census taken on 6 Jul 1860, she was living near Weston, Lewis County, Virginia. At the time, Mary *Ann was 13 years old and lived with her presumed father, Thomas Cuff (40). However, by 1863 she was in Lewis County, West Virginia with her new husband, Peter Farrell. According to the 1870 Census taken on 20 Jun 1870, they were living Near Sandfork in Glenville Township, Gilmer County, West Virginia. At the time, Ann was 25 years old and lived with her spouse Peter Ferrel *Farrell (35) and their 2 daughters; Margaret (3) and Mary (1). According to the 1880 Census taken on 23-24 Jun 1880, they were still living in Glenville District, Gilmer County, West Virginia. At the time, Ann was 33 years old and lived with her spouse Peter Farrell (43) and his 6 children; Margaret (12), Mary (10), Elizabeth (8), Thomas (6), John (4) and Patrick (2). It appears she may have lived in the area until her death in 1893.

Ann married Peter Farrell on 29 Oct 1863 in Lewis County, West Virginia, by Rev D.O. Connor. It appears Ann and Peter may have had 9 children; Margaret A, Mary C, Elizabeth Beatrice, Thomas Vincent, John, Patrick Francis, Anna Gertrude, Ella Madalene and Peter.

According to family records, Ann passed away on 12 Oct 1893 in Lewis County, West Virginia although exact date and locations are unknown at this time. No official records are currently known and all dates were obtained from online family records with no sourcing or gravestone markers. She was laid to rest next in Saint Bridget’s Church Cemetery in Weston, Lewis County, West Virginia.
