Mr. Emmitt Whitfield, Route 2, Vidalia, Ga., age 75, died Thursday, August 14, 1986 at Meadows Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Mr. Whitfield was a native of Toombs County and had spent most of his life there. He was a member of the New Corinth Baptist Church and a retired farmer. He was the son of the late Marcus and Annie Galbreath Whitfield.

He is survived by his, Mrs. Pearl Galbreath Whitfield, Vidalia; two daughters, Mrs. Margie Colvin, Lynn Haven, Fla., and Mrs. Emoline Williamson, Griffin; one son, Homer C. Whitfield, Ellabell; one sister, Mrs. Cassie Mae Holland, Metter; three brothers, A.J. Whitfield, Vidalia, Eddie Whitfield, North Augusta, S.C. and Curtis Whitfield, Panama City, Fla.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Whitfield were held at Murchison Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 16, 1986 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Corley officiating. Interment followed in Galbreath Cemetery. Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Ross Colvin, Church Frazier, William Colvin, Earl Colvin, Jr., Wayne Hopkins and Andie Whitfield.
