She was a native and lifelong resident of Toombs County. She was a homemaker. She was the last living charter member of the New Corinth Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Whitfield.
Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Marjorie Whitfield Colvin, Lynn Haven, Florida, and Emoline and Darvin Williamson, Griffin; one son, Homer Whitfield, Ellabell; two sisters, Martha Austin and Margarette Morrison, both of Vidalia; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Corley officiating. Interment followed in Galbreath Cemetery.
