She married Fidelis "Archie" Walters on Sept. 13, 1948, in Hays. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 2006.
She worked at Montgomery Wards, the Ellis County Appraiser's office, and was a former director of the Community Assistance Center. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and the Perpetual Adorers. She enjoyed music, socializing with friends and family, and she adored babies and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Howard Walters, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Kathleen Jacobs and husband, Jerry, and Cyndy Doerfler and husband, Charlie, all of Hays; a brother, Marion Bollig and wife, Shirley, Hays; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Timothy Walters and Steven Walters; a daughter-in-law, Murita Rose Walters; five brothers, Robert, Elmer, Leonard, Frank and Cecil Bollig; and five sisters, Marcella McCollum, Frances Wooldridge, Celestine Obholz, Helen Knowles and Margaret Hazelton.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church; burial in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine. A Perpetual Adorers rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday, a Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 p.m., followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., all at the funeral home.
Memorials are suggested to Community Assistance Center or Thomas More Prep-Marian High School in care of the funeral home.
