Mr. Ora Williams, one of the finest and most promising young men of south Miller County, succumbed to an attack of pneumonia at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Williams, of the community west of Iberia, last Saturday.
Ora was a single man and resided on the farm with his parents, assisting his father in the operation of the farm. His passing is sadly mourned, not only by his immediate relatives, but by his many friends and associates.
Mr. Ora Williams, son of Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Williams, was born June 19, 1896; died February 22, 1936 at Iberia, Missouri. It was in this community that, as a farmer, he spent the greater part of his life; and it was here that he acquired the host of friends who will mourn his passing.
Soon after the United States entered the World War, Ora enlisted in the U.S. Navy, remaining in that branch of the service until February, 1919. Subsequently he became an active member of the American Legion with his membership in the Fremont Watkins Post at Iberia.
Although he never definitely sought church membership, Ora was both by profession of belief and by example in his daily life, a Christian man. His kindly presence, his generous nature, and his sterling character generally were an inspiration to all who knew him.
His last illness was comparatively brief. Pneumonia coupled with other complications baffled all efforts to bring relief. For those efforts the family is deeply grateful to the capable medical staff which attended Ora and to the many other friends who did all within their power to aid him and to comfort his bereaved ones.
Among his nearest surviving relatives are his parents, seven sisters and three brothers: Mrs. A.O. Knoll, Mrs. R.W. Irwin, Mrs. R.M. Muirhead, Miss Betty Williams, Mrs. Gerald Gardner, Mrs. M. Myer, Mrs. Raymond Johnston, and Messrs. Adron, Wade and Dale Williams.
Funeral services were held at the home Monday, February the 24th at 2 p.m., Prof. G. Byron Smith officiating. Burial was made in the Williams Cemetery with military honors given by the American
