Irene Elisabeth Bieritz of Downers Grove, IL, formerly of Yorkville, IL. died at Pleasantview Nursing Home in Ottawa, IL. She was born in rural Kendall Townhip, Kendall County, the daughter of Herman and Minnie (Freise) Bieritz.

Miss Bieritz was formerly employed as an operator for Illinois Bell in Yorkville until 1939, when the phone company went to the dial system. She then became a long-distance operator in Oak Park, IL, until her retirement. Irene was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Miss Bieritz was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Yorkville.Survivors included her three brothers: Erick Bieritz of Yorkville, Herman Bieritz of Ottawa, IL, and Walter (Elorn) Bieritz of Yorkville, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: George, Gerhardt, and Reuben; and five sisters: Evelyn Hardecopf, Rhoda Bieritz, Ruth Bieritz, Anna Sullivan, and Esther Bieritz.Funeral services were held December 12, 1995, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor John Leaf officiating.
