Barbora (Barbara) Palivec was born Mar 21, 1906 in Drahlín, Austria-Hungary, now Czech Republic. On Mar 20, 1913, she departed Bremen, Germany for the USA on the ship Chemnitz, a part of the North German Lloyd Line. She travelled in 2nd Cabin accomodations. Barbara arrived in Philadelphia with her parents and 7 siblings on April 4, 1913 at the age of 7.

Listed in 1920 Census, Brecksville, Cuyahoga County, OH, as "niece" (had to be Rose's sister), 14, living with Frank Muzik, 33, farmer, sister, Rose, 28 ,born in Bohemia, and his nephew, Charles Hantle, 4, all living on a farm on Avery Road. Lived next door to the Albert Trefny family, possible parents of Anna Trefny who married John Palivec three months before the census was taken, therefore Anna probably listed separately with John. Immigrated in 1912.

She married Frank Soucek on Oct 28, 1925, at the age of 19. Lived at 7475 Lanier Dr, Cleveland, OH. Had one son, Frank, Jr..

Listed in 1930 Census, age 24, living at 12305 Farringdon, Cleveland, OH, with husband Frank, age 26, son Frank Jr, 1 yr 5 months, and Barbara's sister Bertha, 19, single.

Listed in Apr 27, 1932 Petition for Citizenship, lived at 3549 E. 139th St, Cleveland, OH. Witnessed by sister Regina's father in law, Charles L. Pelsnik, who would have been 60 years old.

Lived at 12918 Union Ave, Cleveland, OH on Jun 23, 1933, the date of listed on her naturalization index card.

Listed in the 1940 Census, 12906 Union Ave, Cleveland, OH, age 33, living with her husband Frank J. Soucek, 35, and their son Frank Jr., 11. They were renting space at the house of her mother, Anna, age 69, widowed. Also there was her sister Mildred, 28, who worked as an assembler for a valve manufacturing company. Interestingly, Mildred was listed as divorced. Barbara worked as a folder and packer in a print shop, and Frank worked as a truck driver for R & H Builder Supply. Frank and Frank Jr were born in Ohio, and the rest were born in Czechoslovakia. Barbara listed as naturalized.
