Antonia (Antonette) Palivec was born Aug 15, 1892 in Drahlín, Austria-Hungary (Bohemia), now Czech Republic. At age 16, she arrived in New York on December 8, 1908, travelling alone aboard the ship, Prinz Friedrich Wilhelm, which departed Bremen, Germany on November 28, 1908. She travelled in 2nd Cabin accomodations. She listed her brother in law Jerry Mrazek, 3437 E 69th St., Cleveland, Ohio, on the manifest as person to join in USA. She had left Drahlín, Bohemia where she worked as a maid and servant. Antonia was the fourth person in her family to make the trip, following Mary, John, and Rose.

Before her wedding, she lived at 3736 Union Ave and listed housework as her occupation. Just before her 20th birthday, she married Charles Hantl on Aug 8, 1912, in Cleveland, OH. Charles died six years later on Oct 20, 1918. Since he died in Oct 1918, it is likely that he died from the Spanish Influenza pandemic that swept the world. The pandemic lasted from Jan 1918 until Dec 1920, but the deadlier second wave of the virus hit in Oct 1918, just when he died. The virus mainly affected people below the age of thirty. Charles was about 28 years old.

Six months after the death of Charles, Antonie, age 28, married Jacob Jamnik, age 33, on May 5, 1919, in Cleveland, OH. Jacob was born in Austria, worked as a molder, and lived at 15006 East 152nd St., Cleveland, OH. He had been married once before, and his wife was deceased. Antonie had been married once before, and lived at 12906 Union Ave, Cleveland, OH.

Listed in 1920 Census, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, OH, as Toney Jamnik, 29 (27), widowed, alien, immigrated 1908, living along with her son Charley, 4, at her parents, John and Anna home (indexed as Paliree instead of Palivec), and parents' family at 12906 Union Avenue, in Cleveland, Ohio. Also living there was her sister's (Anna's) family, including Tom Wojnarowsky, 34, Polish, machinist, immigrated 1892, Anna, 23 (21), and their daughter, Anna, 9 months. His last name is indexed as Yaminik instead of Jamnik and she is listed as widowed, which refers to the death of first husband Charles Hantl, not the death of Jacob Jamnik. Jacob Jamnik is listed separately in the 1920 Census living with his sons from his first marriage, suggesting that the marriage of Jacob and Antonie lasted less than seven months.

Nettie, age 29, then married Andrew Strnad, age 37, in Cleveland, OH, on Feb 24, 1921. Her marriage record address was 12906 Union Avenue, Cleveland, OH.

Listed in 1930 Census, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, OH, age 35 (???), at 13817 Bartlett Ave, with her husband Andrew Strnad, 47, her stepson Yarrow, 20, her stepson William, 17, and her son Charles, 14. Andrew and Antonie born in Czechoslovakia. Children born in Ohio. Andrew first married at age 23. Antonie first married at age 20. Andrew immigrated in 1898 and Antonie immigrated in 1908. Both naturalized. Andrew worked as a die maker in a machine shop. Yarrow worked as a laborer in an automobile plant. William worked as an apprentice in a machine shop.

Listed in 1940 Census, Cuyahoga County, Cleveland, OH, age 48, at 13817 Bartlett, with husband Andrew, 56. Both born in Czechoslovakia and naturalized. Andrew worked as a tool maker in an iron foundry. Both lived in same house in 1935.

She died on May 13, 1954, of cardiovascular disease, in Cleveland, OH at the age of 61. She was buried on May 14, 1954, in Section 24, Lot A, Tier 1, Grave 66, in Highland Park Cemetery, Cleveland, OH. Lived at 13817 Bartlett Ave, Cleveland, OH.
