Mrs. Foster Dies at 56

Mrs. Carl Foster,56, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at her home, 319 Elm St.

Her husband, now associated with McKesson-Robbins,Inc., was in the grocery business in Stamford for nine years before the couple moved to Abilene in 1948.
Born Menda Alberta Howard on Nov. 10, 1897 near Knoxville, Tennessee she moved to Texas as a child with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. A.P. Howard of Hawley.
She finished public school in Hawley and was graduated from West Texas State College in Canyon. She taught school in Rawls before her marriage to Carl Foster on Aug 2, 1919 in Crosbyton.
The couple lived in Hale County for 16 years and then resided in Scurry County for three years. For a short time Mr. and Mrs. Foster lived in Santa Anna, then went to Stamford.
Mrs. Foster, a Methodist since early childhood, was a member of the First Methodist Church here.
Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery under direction of Laughter-North Funeral Home.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, Calvin Howard Foster of Corpus Christi and Robbie Lee Foster of Houston; three sisters, Mrs. Ivin Harris of Seattle, Wash., Mrs.Mary A. Miller of Verden,Okla. and Mrs. Hiram Guy of Abilene; five brothers, J.S. Howard of Oklahoma City, G.G. Howard of Austin, Q.S. Howard of Lubbock, P.P. Howard of Big Spring and A.A. Howard of Silverton.

Funeral for Mrs. Carl Foster,56, is to be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Methodist Church.

The Rev. Dallas D Denison, pastor, is to officiate. Burial will be in Hawley cemetery under direction of Laughter-North Funeral Home.

Mrs. Foster died Thursday morning at her home at 319 Elm St. She and her husband lived in Stamford for nine years before coming to Abilene in 1948.

Survivors are her husband; two sons, three sisters and five brothers.
