Minerva Ann Valentine was born October 11, 1833, in Creagerstown, Frederick County, Maryland, the daughter of William and Lydia Mehring Valentine. She married John William Anders on December 11, 1855, in Frederick County, Maryland. They were the parents of 10 children: Laura, Missouri Elizabeth, William Henry, Emma Alice, Sarah Jane, Anna Sophia, Harvey Elmer J., Grayson Howard, Clarence E. and Harry Elmer Anders. Minerva passed away on January 21, 1907, in Frederick County, and was buried at Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.

Obituary for Minerva Ann Valentine Anders from the Frederick Daily News of January 23, 1907:

"Mrs. Minerva Ann Anders died on Monday evening at 6 o'clock at the home of her son, Grayson Anders, near Rocky Ridge, aged 73 years. Mrs. Anders was the widow of the late John W. Anders, who died suddenly on December 1, last, in the stable at his home. Her funeral will take place tomorrow at 11 o'clock, at Rocky Ridge. Rev. Bregenzar, of Union Bridge, will officiate. M. L. Creager is the undertaker."
