Grayson Howard Anders was born February 23, 1870, in Creagerstown District, Frederick County, Maryland, son of John William and Minerva Ann Valentine Anders, being the 8th of 10 children. In 1901, he married Grace Emma Brown, daughter of Elias and Catherine Phillips Brown. They were the parents of 6 children: Beatrice Irene, Wade H., Atlee B., Kermit K., Zelda L. (died young) and Kenneth Payton Anders. Grayson passed away January 31, 1944, in Frederick, Frederick County, and was buried on the 3rd of February in Mt. Tabor Church Cemetery, Rocky Ridge, Frederick County, Maryland.

Obituary for Grayson Howard Anders from the Frederick News of Tuesday, February 1, 1944:

"Grayson H. Anders, well-known and highly respected resident of Rocky Ridge, died Monday at noon at the Frederick City Hospital, aged 73 years, 11 months and 8 days. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Grace E. Brown Anders, formerly of Johnsville, four sons, Wade H., Baltimore, and Atlee B., Kermit K. and Kenneth P. Anders, all in Army service; a daughter, Mrs. Grace Angel, Rocky Ridge, one grandchild; a brother, Harry Anders, of Washington. Funeral arrangements will be announced later. Powell and Albaugh, funeral directors."
