Mrs. Mary E. Shively
MINERVA – Mrs. Mary E. Shively, 86, of 9239 Bayard rd. died Thursday morning in Canton Aultman Hospital after suffering a heart attack in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Genevieve) Oberholzer of Canton, where she had been visiting since the death of her son, Frederick, Dec. 26. A native of New Philadelphia, she had resided for two months with another daughter, Mrs. Dante (Janet) Susco of Los Alamos, N.M.
She was a daughter of the late Frederick and Salome Garver Ludi. A resident of this area since 1913, she formerly resided on a farm near Dover. She was a member of Bayard Community United Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Bayard Grange. Her husband, Orbie, died in 1951.
Surviving in addition to her daughters are another daughter and two sons, Mrs. Ralph (Doris) Harlan of Painesville, Jesse of Glenham, N.Y., and Roger of Millersville, Md.; two sisters and a brother, Mrs. Melva Welz of New Philadelphia and Frederick and Mrs. Helen Rippel of Dover; 24 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Three sisters and two brothers also are deceased.
Services will be held Sunday at 2:30 in Gotschall-Hutchinson Funeral Home with Rev. Ralph Chambers officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery near New Franklin. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
