Jesse H. Shively
GLENHAM--Jesse H. Shively, 63, of Red Schoolhouse Road, died Friday at Westchester Medical Center, Grasslands.
A native of Bayard, Ohio, he was born on Sept. 17, 1916, the son of Orbie R. and Mary Elizabeth Ludie [sic, Ludi] Shively.
He received his bachelor's degree in chemistery [sic, chemistry] from Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio, and master's degree from Ohio State University, Columbus.
Mr. Shively was married in Beacon at St. John's Church on May 22, 1943, to the former Julia M. Poggi, who survives.
Mr. Shively was a chemist at the Texaco Research Center before his retirement in 1977. He was a member of the Slater Chemical Fire Co., and American Chemical Society.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, [living names redacted]; two daughters, [redacted]; a brother, Roger of Baltimore, Md.; three sisters: Mrs. Doris Harlin [sic, Harlan] of Painsville [sic, Painesville], Ohio, Mrs. Janet Succo [sic, Susco] of Los Alamos, N.M., and Mrs. Genevieve Oberhalzer [sic, Oberholzer] of Canton, Ohio; and two grandchildren.
Calling hours are Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Hignell Funeral Home, 10 Willow St., Beacon. The Slater Chemical Fire Co. will hold services at 7:30.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Lawrence R. Hancock officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
