Orbie Shively
Orbie Ray Shively, 62, a railroad telegrapher with the Pennsylvania Railroad for 44 years at the Bayard tower, died at 12:30 a.m. today at the home where he was born on RD2, Minerva, near Bayard. Death was due to a heart ailment following a one month illness.
A life resident of the Minerva vicinity, Mr. Shively's father was the late Rev. Aaron Shively.
Mr. Shively was a member of the Bayard Methodist church, a former superintendent of the Sunday school, a member of the church board and secretary of the church building fund.
He was a seventh degree member of the Grange, a past master of Bayard Grange, president of the West twp Memorial Association and a member of the Order of Railroad Telegraphers.
Surviving are his widow, Mary Elizabeth; three daughters, Mrs. Ralph Harlan and Mrs. Frederick Oberholzer of Painesville, and Mrs. J. V. Susco of Los Angeles, Calif.; three sons, Frederick of Canton, Jesse of Beacon, N.Y. and Lt. Roger Shively in Japan; one sister Mrs. D. O. Emmons of Akron and 11 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gotschall-Hutchinson Funeral Home in Minerva with Rev. Raymond Baldwin officiating. Burial will be in Moultrie Chapel cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.
