She was born on 14 Jan 1927 in West Township of Columbiana County, OH, where she was raised on the family's farm along with her five siblings.
She was a 1945 graduate of Minerva High School, where she was involved in numerous activities: National Thespians, Dramatics Club, The Cresent (yearbook), The Diary (member of "Quill and Scroll" National Honorary Society for high school journalists), Victory Singers (singing & service), Friendship Club (female juniors and seniors), and Twirlers (majorettes). Following in both of her sister's footsteps, she attended Mount Union College in Alliance, OH to become a teacher and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, graduating in 1949. It was here that she met her husband, Fred Oberholzer. They had five children.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers Frederick and Jesse; and a granddaughter, Stephanie Lynn Buckel. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Susie and Becky; three sons, Charlie, Alan, and Brett; two sisters, Doris and Janet; a brother Roger; and a number of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Interment is in Moultrie Chapel Cemetery.
