William Henry Edlen was born Jan. 13, 1857, died of pneumonia at his home on Thursday, Feb. 19, 1920, at the age of 63 years, 1 month and 6 days. He was married to Mary Alice Sells April 5, 1895. To this union was born three children, Iva Marcial, who preceded him in death, Dec. 5, 1919, William Duff and Veva Sylva, who survive him. They and the grief-stricken wife are left to mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father and husband. He united with the Christian church at Peaksville and was baptized Jan. 8, 1920. He had been in failing helath for several years, yet he bore his sufferings with great patience. He was a man ardently devoted to his home and family. Another life has passed to the great beyond, leaving a vacancy in the home, and warning us that in this world there is no abiding stay. Besides the above mentioned relatives, he leaves three sisters, Mrs. Mary Adams, Mabank, Texas; Mrs. Nettie Owens, Herman, Ill.; Mrs. Nora Sherwood, Kahoka, Mo.; three brothers, N. L. Edlen of Kahoka, T. J. Edlen of Port Metches, Texas, and Martin G. Edlen of Ashton, and other relatives and friends, who are greatly grieved over his passing. Funeral services conducted at the home by Rev. A. J. McClees, at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 1920, where many of his friends and neighbors gathered to pay the last sad tribute of respect. After the service the remains were turned over to the I.O.O.F lodge of Revere, of which order he was a member, who conducted the last sad rites at the grave, which was very impressive.
