Earl returned to the Navy as an officer, serving in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps for 20 years and retired as a Lieutenant Commander in 1994. He joined a private practice that year, and in 2000, he struck out on his own, starting his own practice where he handled both family and criminal law. He entered into the Florida Bar 1994.
Earl enjoyed golf and other sports (when his knees would allow it), reading, and spending time with his New Warrington friends and was a resident of Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. He was a faithful friend and generous to anyone who had a need.
