Funeral services for Beatrice M. Overby, 101, of Macon, Ga., formally of Rebecca and Ashburn, Ga. will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, January 2, 2011 at Perry Funeral Chapel with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Rebecca, Ga. Mrs. Overby died Wednesday in a Macon Nursing Home following an extended illness of arteriosclerotic disease and hypertension. Her immediate cause of death was respiratory failure and cardiopulmonary arrest.

Mrs. Overby was born in Wilcox County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late John William and Mildred Asilee Ambrose Mangum. She was a member of the Westside Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening, cooking, fishing, and loved children of all ages. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Henry Overby, and her children, Dorothy Lacey, Evelyn Massey, Billy Mangum, Charles Overby, Johnny Overby, and Earl Overby.

She is survived by three sons, H.D. Overby, Winona, MO; Clarence Overby, Verbena. AL; Clinton Overby, Norcross, Ga., and two daughters; Izola Skipper, Macon, GA and Helen Burdge, Juliette, Ga. Also surviving are 35 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 P. M. until service time at Perry Funeral Chapel.
