Lee was born on June 26, 1894, in Fielding, Utah, a son of Thomas Fredrick and Mary Alice Spackman Coombs. He was raised and educated in Fielding, attending Box Elder High School in Brigham City, Utah.
His life was spent in Fielding, Utah, as a farmer.
He served a mission for the LDS Church to New Zealand from 1926-28.
He married Ester Marie Walker on January 3, 1931.
He was a Counselor in the Fielding Ward Sunday School.
Surviving are his widow, four daughters and one son, Mrs Janice Allred, Roy, Utah; Mrs Fred (Jeanne) Merrifield, Walla Walla, Washington; Mrs Robert E (Linda) Whitney, Verdi, Nevada; Mrs Jack (Kristine) Walker, Denver, Colorado; Ken W Coombs; Fielding, Utah; eight grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Fred Coombs, Lester Coombs, Irvin Coombs, Elmer Coombs, all of Fielding, Utah; Dean Coombs, Garland, Utah; Mrs Glen (Alice) Ward, Riverside, Utah; Mrs M J (Nellie) Fife, Salinas, California.
