Lydia J. Yunker, 87, Hays, died Tuesday, May, 6, 2008, at Bethany Nursing Home, Lindsborg. She was born June 21, 1920, in Catherine to Carl W. and Anne E. (Walters) Staab.

She married Martin M. Yunker on Sept. 27, 1938, in Catherine. He preceded her in death May 18, 1997.

She worked at Fort Hays State University and Lamer Hotel in Hays and Salina. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella.

Survivors include six sons, Robert D., Hays, Charles M., Topeka, Martin M. Jr., Fountain, Colo., Thomas J., Munjor, and James A. and Daniel D., both of Hays; two daughters, Janice M. Koshiol, Hays, and Mary Alice Weed, Salina; a sister, Alice Oaks, Wichita; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, David James Yunker; a grandson, Matthew Thomas Yunker; six brothers; and three sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church; burial in St. Catherine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Friday, both at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, followed by a vigil at 7 p.m., both at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or St. Catherine Cemetery Fund in care of the funeral home.
