Catherine -- Elmer Staab, 71, died Saturday, July 8 at St. Anthony Hospital. He was born June 1, 1918 in Catherine to Carl and Anna (Walters) Staab.

He married Viola Kuhn Oct. 20, 1948 in Pfeifer.

He was a farmer, oil field pumper, and was an employee of Schwaller Lumber Co., Hays, for 16 years. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, Catherine.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; three sons, Robert L., Hays, Patrick J., Hays, and Charles W., of the home; three daughters, Catherine Legleiter, Hays, Jamie Trimmer, Fort Collins, Colo., and Doris Pilatus, Hays; four brothers, Clarence, Maryland, James, Hays, Felix, Denver, Colo., and Edwin, Hays; five sisters, Lydia Yunker, Hays, Minnie Lang, Hays, Irene Minter, Salina, Charlotte Ludes, Salina, & Alice Oaker, Wichita; 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church, Father Michael Suchnicki officiated; burial was in the church cemetery.
