Lucille Estes Allen , one of nine children of Mannie and Selma Estes , was born in Lee County, Mississippi on August 1, 1922 . Lucille's paternal grandparents were Elisha Evans Estes and Sarah Caroline McCarty Estes and her maternal grandparents were John Houston Shumpert and Dora McKinney Shumpert . Her siblings who preceded her in death were Marie Estes Jones , Ernest Estes , and Leonard Estes . Her other siblings are Foy Estes Basden , Mae Estes Ruth, Mannie Weaver Estes , Ellen Estes Stroupe , and John Thomas Estes. Lucille and her high school sweetheart Will Allen, Jr. graduated in 1940 from Mooreville High School , and then on June 23, 1940 they were married in Lee County, Mississippi. They had two children , a daughter Carolyn Ann Allen and a son William David Allen who was the father of their grandchildren Paul, Carolee, Mike, and Jennifer Allen . Mike and his wife Amber are the parents of Lucille and Will's great grandchildren : Megan , Ethan , and Lucas . Carolee and her husband Lennard Willis are the parents of Lucille and Will's great grand daughter Alexis . Lucille received her BS degree in elementary education from Mississippi State University in 1964 and then her Master's degree there in 1966. She was a teacher at Overstreet Elementary in Starkville, Mississippi teaching sixth grade the first year and then first grade for a number of years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed teaching , being active with her church Artesia United Methodist Church , attending Southern gospel music concerts, and being with her family. Lucille and her husband Will celebrated 70 years of marriage prior to her death February 15, 2011.
