She was born December 5, 1919, to Mannie Estes and Selma Shumpert Estes.
All of her life she has lived in Lee County.
As a profession, she worked as a seamstress for Reeds Manufacturing.
Gardening and quilting were two of the pastimes she enjoyed.
She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at The Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Wexford Parmer officiating.
The burial will be in Boguefala Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lewis Cleveland Ruth in 1984; two sisters, Marie Jones and Lucille Allen; two brothers, Earnest and Leonard Estes; one great-grandson, Charles Robert Smith.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years-9 months-24 days, Claudie Basden of Mooreville; one son, Fred Lewis (Sheila) Ruth of California; two daughters, Dorothy Annette (Mrs. Bob) Rundquist of Saltillo and Peggy Sue (Mrs. Ken) Wood of Mooreville; five step-children, James, Robert, Raymond and Joe Basden and Betsy Bedoe; 8 grandchildren, Cynthia Hyland, Kimberly Althausen, James Wiggins, Cathy Smith, Pam Winkler, Bob Rundquist, Kenneth and Scott Wood; 12 great-grandchildren, Thomas Hyland, John Althausen, Addison and Lora Beth Wiggins, Kim Carroll, Ben Smith, Meagan McGee, Shelby Craig, Jake and Sydne Bane and Heather Rundquist; 4 great-great-grandchildren, Mia, Drew and Mason Carroll and Nathan McGee; two sisters, Mae Ruth and Ellen Stroup; two brothers, Mannie and John Estes; 11 nieces and 12 nephews.
