Ernest Elisha Estes, son of Mannie Evans Estes and Selma Frances Shumpert Estes, was born October 16 , 1917 in Lee County, Mississippi. Ernest's paternal grandparents were Elisha Evans Estes and Sarah Caroline Estes , and his maternal grandparents were John Houston Shumpert and Rothsura Dora McKinney Shumpert . During World War II he served in the army. He married Thelma Fowler on May 24 , 1947 and they had three children. His career was being a farmer. Ernest served as a deacon of Belden Baptist church where he was a member. He died April 6, 2007 at his home in Belden.

His survivors were his wife Thelma Fowler Estes ; his two sons Paul Larry Estes (Latona) and Rev. Carl Houston Estes (Beverly) ; his daughter Linda Enfinger , his brothers Mannie Estes and John Thomas Estes ; his sisters Foy Basden, Mae Ruth, Ellen Stroupe , and Lucille Allen ; and 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his brother Leonard Estes, sister Marie Jones, and his parents, Mannie and Selma Estes .
