Will Allen , Jr. , the son of Will Anderson Allen and Mittie Lou Priddy Allen , was born December 5, 1921 in Lee County , Mississippi . His paternal grandparents were Charlie Frank Allen and Lonie Belle Fowler Allen and his maternal grandparents were James F. Priddy and Carrie McCarty Priddy . His siblings were Clyde Allen , Faye Allen Burgess , Ruby Allen Brooks , and Joe Allen . He and his sweetheart Lucille Estes graduated in 1940 at Mooreville High School , two of a graduating class of eight . Then on June 23 , 1940 they married and were married over seventy years prior to his wife's death . Will and Lucille were the parents of two children - William David Allen and Carolyn Ann Allen. David is the father of Will and Lucille's grandchildren : Paul , Carolee , Mike , and Jennifer . Mike and his wife Amber are the parents of Will and Lucille Allen's great grandchildren - Megan, Ethan , and Lucas . Carolee and her husband Lennard Willis are the parents of Will and Lucille's great grand daughter Alexis . Prior to being drafted Will and his wife Lucille moved from place to place working in a variety of jobs so they could spend more time together before the draft and World War II would cause the couple to be separated due to the war . Even after Will was drafted his wife Lucille moved near a number of camps working so they could continue spending more time together before he was shipped overseas . Following training in Fort Bragg , North Carolina , Camp Swift in Texas , and Camp Hale in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado , Will was shipped overseas serving in World War II in C Army 10th Mountain Division 616 Field Artillery in Italy and Yugoslavia . After Germany surrendered Will's unit was sent home for 30 days leave . During that leave Japan surrendered so Will did not have to go back into battle in Japan as anticipated . Another happy event occurred while on leave . His daughter was born . During his lifetime Will had numerous jobs including being a carpenter , an employee in dairy manufacturing , dairy farmer , milk salesman and being for many years sales supervisor for Dairymen , Inc. , and after retiring from that position serving as the first receiving clerk for Oktibbeha County . He was an active member of Artesia United Methodist Church serving in various positions over the years . Will was a member of the American Legion over fifty years and was a former commander and chaplain of American Legion Post # 13 in Starkville , Mississippi . He was a lifetime member of the VFW . Will among others was instrumental in creating and founding East Oktibbeha Volunteer Fire Department and served as president of the first board of that fire department . Will Allen , Jr. was a caring Christian man who served the Lord , loved his family , worked hard in all he did , and served the community . He died December 10 , 2012 at his residence in Oktibbeha County , Mississippi .
