Dora Ellen Estes Stroupe , the daughter of Mannie Evan Estes and Selma Frances Shumpert Estes , was born March 22 , 1931 in Lee County , Mississippi in Mooreville . Her maternal grandparents were John Houston Shumpert and Rothsura Dora McKinney Shumpert . Her paternal grandparents were Elisha Evans Estes and Sarah Caroline McCarty Estes . Ellen had four sisters ; Marie , Foy , Lucille , and Mae and four brothers : Ernest , Leonard , Mannie , and John Thomas . Ellen married Jimmy Putt March 5 , 1951 . Ellen and Jimmy Putt had three children : Jerry , Diane , and Lynn before Jimmy Putt died of Hodgkin's disease on Dec. 11 , 1972 . On November 21 , 1973 Ellen married John W. Mayfield in Lee county , Mississippi . However later he suddenly died of a heart attack . On June 23 , 1977 Ellen married Robert Wayne Stroupe . To celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary Ellen and Wayne renewed their wedding vows at East Heights Baptist Church on June 29 , 2002 along with Ellen's son Jerry Putt and his wife Judy Putt also renewing their wedding vows to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary . Dora Ellen Estes Stroupe died December 12 , 2015 in Northeast Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo , Mississippi in the Hospice Unit . She was survived by her husband Robert Wayne Stroupe; daughters Lynn Putt Hall ( Bobby ) and Diane Kirkman ( Jonathan ) ; her daughter-in-law Linda Putt ; her step-sons David Stroupe and Doug Stroupe ; her step-daughters Darlene Hanson and Dolly Smith ; her grandchildren : Joe Thomas Hall ( Chasity ) , Melanie Florez ( Robert ) , Katrina Tartalia ( Vince ) , Robbie Caballero ( Laura ) , Jennifer Caballero , and Joanna Caballero ; seven great grandchildren ; her sister Mae Estes Ruth ; her brothers John Thomas Estes and Mannie Estes ( Helen ) ; and brother-in-law Claude Basden .
