Robert Lester Dodson, of Kilgore, Gregg County, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, 13 February 1990, Roy H. Laird Hospital of Kilgore, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Dodson was born on Wednesday, 18 December 1907, to Charles Robert Dodson and Wilhelmina "Willie" Smith Dodson, in Poolville, Parker County, Texas. He was the fourth of eleven children born to this unoin.

He was united in marriage to Nellie Jane Brown on Saturday, 28 February 1925, in Poolville. Mrs. Dodson survives Robert. They were married 64 years. To their union were born two sons: R. J. Dodson and Bobby Wayne Dodson.

In 1927, Robert and Nellie moved to Burkburnett, Wichita County, Texas, where Robert continued his training in watch repair. The family moved to Kilgore in 1934 from Weatherford. In 1936, Robert began his career at Max Daiches Jewelers.

Robert worked as a watch repairman at Daiches Jewelers for 45 years. Mr. Dodson organized many baseball, softball and basketball teams and was an avid bowler. After his retirement he continued to bowl, play softball and repair clocks and watches in his home until his health prohibited such activities.

He was a member of the Chandler Street church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Birdie Mae Dodson, brother Charles Hester Dodson, brother George William Dodson, sister Pearly Bell Dodson, brother Roy Woodrow Dodson, and brother Jack D. "JD" Dodson.

Survivors include his wife Nellie, of the home, son R.J. and wife Barbara of Longview, Gregg County, Texas, son Bobby and wife Peggy of Plano, Collin County, Texas, brother Ray Dodson of Dallas, Dallas County, Texas, sister Myrtle Lee Dodson Baker of Famrers Branch, sister Naomi Dodson Switzer of Kermit, Winkler County, Texas, sister Ruth Dodson Schlapack of Lorain, Lorain County, Ohio, grandson Randy Wayne Dodson of Stockbridge, Henry County, Georgia, grandson Paul Durwood Dodson of Kilgore, granddaughter Amanda Ann Dodson Francis of Longview, and granddaughter Angie Renee Dodson of College Station, Brazos County, Texas, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Wednesday, 14 February 1990 at Rader Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, 15 February 1990, at the chapel of Rader Funeral Home, with minister John Gardner officiating.

Interment will follow services at Kilgore Cemetery in Kilgore.
