Mr. Dodson was born on Sunday, 16 August 1908, to Charles Robert Dodson and Wilhelmina M. Smith Dodson, in Peaster, Parker County, Texas. He was the fifth of eleven children born to this union.

He was united in marriage to Vivian Estelle Beaty on his birthday of Wednesday, 16 August 1933. Vivian survives Mr. Dodson. They were married 52 years. To their union were born three children: son Neil Deane Dodson, daughter Gwendolyn Kay Dodson, and son Roy Don Dodson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son Neal Deane Dodson, daughter Gwendolyn Kay Dodson, sister Birdia Mae Dodson, sister Pearly Bell Dodson, and brother Jack D. Dodson.

Mr. Dodson is survived by his wife, of the home, son Roy Don Dodson, brother Charles Hester Dodson, sister Myrtle Lee Dodson, brother Robert Lester Dodson, sister Naomi Dodson, brother Roy Woodrow Dodson, brother Chancy Ray Dodson, and sister Ila Ruth Dodson.

Interment occurred at Shamrock Cemtery of Shamrock, Wheeler County, Texas.
