Mrs. Shlapack was born on Monday, 21 August 1922, to Charles Robert Dodson and Wilhelmina M. Smith Dodson, in Peaster, Parker County, Texas. She was tenth of eleven children born to this union.

She was united in marriage to Alexander Shlapack on Monday, 21 May 1945. Mr. Shlapack survives Ruth. They were married 51 years. To their union were born two children: daughter Cheryl Shlapack and daughter Denise Shlapack.

Mrs. Shlapack was preceded in death by her parents, sister Birdie Mae Dodson, brother Charles Hester Dodson, sister Myrtle Lee Dodson, brother Robert Lester Dodson, brother George William Dodson, sister Pearly Bell Dodson, brother Roy Woodrow Dodson, and brother Jack D. Dodson.

She is survived by her husband, daughter Cheryl Shlapack Repko and husband Jimmy, daughter Denise Shlapack Zyndort and husband Harry, and brother Chancy Ray Dodson.

Interment occurred at Ridge Hill Memorial Park of Amherst, Lorain County, Ohio.
