Mr. Dodson was born on Saturday, 21 October 1916, to Charles Robert Dodson and Wilhelmina M. "Willie" Smith Dodson in Parker County, Texas. Roy was the eighth of twelve children born to this union.
He was united in marriage to Jessie Lee Bounds around 1939. Mrs. Dodson survives Roy. They were married 47 years. To their union were born two children: daughter Margaret Lynn Dodson and daughter Molly Ann Dodson.
Roy and Jessie moved to Alice, Jim Wells County, Texas in 1942 where Roy worked as a watchmaker at Johnston's Jewelry store. In 1955 Roy and Jessie opened their own business, Dodson's Jewelry where he worked until his retirement.
Mr. Dodson was preceded in death by his parents, sister Birdie Mae Dodson, brother George William Dodson, sister Pearly Bell Dodson, and brother Jack D. "JD" Dodson.
He is survived by his wife, of the home, daughter Margaret Lynn Dodson, daughter Molly Ann Dodson, brother Charles Hester Dodson, sister Myrtle Lee Dodson, brother Robert Lester Dodson, sister Naomi Dodson, brother Chancy Ray Dodson, and sister Ila Ruth Dodson.
Interment occurred at Roselawn Memorial Park of Alice, Jim Wells County, Texas.
